A view from near our farm, the world was a shimmering crystal field after freezing rain.

A little about me:

My name is Dustin Borror, I’m the proud owner of Cedar Hills Stallion Station(CHSS).

Here is my story and how  CHSS was started.
I graduated from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces New Mexico in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science, specializing in equine reproduction. While attending, I focused my studies on equine reproduction, not only taking every available equine repro course, but later helping teach it for 2 years. This was to my benefit as the best way to learn a subject is by teaching it to others. I would continue to help teach new students while the university sought out a new professor for the class. The previous professor had retired the very year that I completed my coursework.

As well as working on my equine repro studies while attending college, I accepted a job as breeding manager for Market Demand farms in 2004 and followed by becoming the breeding manager for Chacaro So Black Arabians in 2005. This is where I fell in love with the Arabian breed. Later In 2006 when I graduated college, I started my own mobile equine reproduction business under the watchful eye of Mike Pirrone, DVM. With Dr. Pirrone as my sponsor, I was able to not only run a semen collection, freezing and AI business, but I was also able to palpate and ultrasound mares.

I operated my repro business in the Las Cruces NM area from 2006 until 2016. During which time I worked for multiple farms under the sponsorship of 2 seperate veterinarians. I wore many hats in this busines including breeding manager, lab tech, semen collection tech, mare manager and stallion handler during live cover. For many years I managed over 300 mares and over 20 breeding stallions. The majority of my semen collection work was completed out of my mobile lab at my clients farms.

During my time operating my business in New Mexico, I continued to further my education by attending classes at Texas A&M learning their protocols on the use of Equipure purification.

In 2016 I made the decision to move to Kentucky in an attempt to find a greener and cooler place to live. I now have the beginnings of my own farm in northern KY (its a work in progress) with the aspirations of starting my own on site stallion station. I still have my mobile lab but I’m also in the process of building an on site lab in my breeding shed (This is where I hold my equine reproduction classes).

As well as having several well bred Arabian stallions, I offer my services to outside stallions for phantom training, semen evaluation, shipments and freezing.

I have also decided to begin teaching short three day courses to private stallion owners. I teach many topics  including how to collect and ship semen on their own stallions and manage their mares. I decided to pursue teaching because of how much I enjoyed teaching and helping at the University. I also have enjoyed teaching multiple interns along the way both as part of my repro business and during my time as a breeding manager when the farms would bring on interns. I have found that I find great pleasure in sharing my knowledge with others and am excited to share my experiences with you!

If you are interested in an Ultrasound, I am also now an official Universal Imaging Ultrasound dealer so if you are interested, please ask to see what I have to offer. please see our ultrasound page for more information about the model we offer!

Thanks everyone.
